 DUSD Exceptional Student Services Mission, Vision, and Goals

2018/2019

 

Mission: The mission of the Douglas Unified School District Exceptional Student Services Department is to humbly and effectively serve our students, and to always do what is in their best interest. We strive to create strong, legally sound programs that attend to the needs of each child and that provide for and support their Least Restrictive Environment.

 

Vision: The vision of the Douglas Unified School District Exceptional Student Services Department is to provide services and supports that create significant and positively impactful educational opportunities for all learners.

 

Major Initiatives and Goals for 2018/2019:

ESS Instructional Aide Training & Support – Increase the professional practices and skills of our ESS IAs by 05/2019 as measured on our ESS IA Feedback form. Our goal is to have 90%, or 66 out of 73 ESS IAs, receive 4s or 5s (4=exceeds performance standard or 5=significantly exceeds performance standard) on our ESS IA Feedback form during five (5) observation/feedback sessions spread out during the school year.

ESS Co-teaching Initiative at Douglas High School – Increase the professional practice and skills of our three (3) co-teaching pairs by 05/2019 as measured by each pair receiving a 90% or higher of “Always” marks on our ESS Co-teaching Observation and Feedback Rubric for Best Practices in Co-teaching Classroom Rubric during five (5) observation/feedback sessions spread out during the school year.

ESS STAR/LINKS Autism Training & Support – Increase the professional practices and skills of our DUSD STAR Coach and DUSD STAR Implementation Team, and our DUSD LINKS Coach and DUSD LINKS Implementation Team by 5/2019 as measured by coaches and teams receiving a 90% or higher of “Always” marks on our STAR/LINKS Autism Best Practices Rubric during five (5) observation/feedback sessions spread out during the school year.
