Dress Code (All Students)

At Paul H. Huber Middle School, we believe that dressing with modesty and pride plays a great part in each individual student's success in school and in life. A student's personal appearance should be a matter of pride. Please dress simply and neatly.
School is considered the training place for students who plan to enter the world of professions, business, and industry.

Dress for students shall be in accordance with the goals outlined above. Dress and personal decor shall not include inappropriate lettering or design and shall be appropriate to the school situation and activity in which the student participates. Dress shall meet acceptable standards of good grooming, cleanliness, decency, decorum, and safety for student and others. Individual dress and personal appearance shall not disrupt the educational processes.

  • Appropriate footwear should be worn. No bare feet or rubber flip-flops are allowed
  • Tank tops, half mesh and see through shirts are not acceptable. Tops or blouses with spaghetti straps or thin (less than one inch) straps or bare midriffs are not to be worn. No shirts that expose cleavage will be allowed.
  • Hats are not to be brought to school.
  • Shorts may be worn year-round, but may not be extremely tight or short, or too baggy and/or long.
  • Pants may not be too large/long or extremely tight. The waist must be above the hipbone.
  • No student will be allowed to wear biker shorts, cutoffs or sweatpants.
  • Extremely short or tight mini-skirts will not be allowed.
  • Army style belts or belts with initial buckles are not allowed.
  • Pocket/belt chains are not allowed.
  • Studded wristbands are not allowed.
  • Clothing or accessories associated with gangs, alcohol, tobacco, or drugs are not allowed.
  • Clothing with sexual wording/designs are not allowed.
  • No wide colored shoelaces. Laces must both be the same color.
     

Starting in the 2008-2009 school year, students will be allowed to not tuck in shirts so as long as the following is adhered to:

  • The bottoms of shirts must not lie below the zipper lines of pants.
  • The same rules apply regarding pant lengths and how students wear them.
  • We do not allow body piercings.
  • School security and administration reserve the right to adjust the dress code anytime.
  • We do not permit spiked belts or wristbands.
  • School securtiy and administration reserve the right to determine what is "gang related" clothing and warn/issue dress code violation slips for such matters.

The Principal or his/her designated representative is responsible for determining the acceptability of the student's personal appearance and health/safety standards in accordance with the policy above so the educational process is not disturbed. We reserve the right to modify our dress expectations as needed and when necessary.


General Conduct Rules
  1. Each student is expected to show courtesy, respect and to follow the directions of those in charge. No profanity is allowed.
  2. All teachers are to be addressed as Miss, Mrs., or Mr. and their last name.
  3. Students are not to deface school property. Any student defacing school property will be held personally liable for its repair or replacement.
  4. Absolutely no smoking is allowed on the school grounds. Violators will be suspended until a conference is held between the parents and the school administration. We also do not allow students to carry tobacco products during school hours. We ask parents to cooperate with us in these matters.
  5. Students are expected to keep the school grounds, rooms, and halls free from paper, soda cans, and other refuse. Waste baskets and trash cans are to be used for this purpose.
  6. The police will be contacted immediately if a student is caught possessing illegal drugs or dangerous weapons at school.

Playground Rules
  • No contact games (except in physical education classes) are to be played on campus. Contact games are those requiring rough play or physical contact of any kind. Some of the games that are not allowed are:
    Red Rover Wrestling
    British bulldog Suicide
    Chicken fighting Tackle football (touch football permitted)
    "Pop Hockey" Free Falling
                                  
  • Do not bring anything to school that you do not need for class. Anything not needed will be confiscated and kept until the end of the school year unless the parent,guardian signs a form in the office and picks up the confiscated item(s). The following are examples of what is not allowed:
    Toys of any kind Markers (anything used to write graffiti)     
    Cell phones Whistles
    iPods and MP3 players Water Balloons/ water toys
    Portable CD players Radios
    Cameras/Camcorders/VCR        Playing/Trading Cards
    Sunglasses Magazines, unless required in class
    Dice Lighters/matches
  • Fighting will result in disciplinary action for any student involved.
  • If rocks are thrown, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
  • Firecrackers are not allowed on campus.
  • Outside food or drink is not allowed in the classroom, unless the administration has given prior approval.
  • The school will not be responsible for any jewelry, clothing, or expensive items that are lost or stolen.
  • Any form of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol is not allowed on campus.
