Superintendent's Message

It is with great excitement and high expectations that Douglas Public Schools welcomes you to the 2010/2011 school year!   The DUSD Governing Board, administration, faculty and staff have worked diligently to create a warm, caring environment for the students of Douglas to thrive both  socially and academically.

This summer   has been a busy one for Douglas Schools.   Many of the projects approved in the Bond Election last November are nearly complete.   Teachers and administrators have been involved in ongoing staff development to better serve the students of Douglas. 

I was hired in July as the new superintendent.   I am very excited to be back in my home town to serve the children and families of Douglas.  I have been a teacher, a director, and most recently, an elementary school principal in Gilbert.  The opportunity to come back to Douglas has been an incredible one for me.

One of the changes this summer was hiring a new Assistant Superintendent, Gloria “Bonnie” Lopez who was the former principal of Douglas High School.   Mrs. Lopez and I are excited to be working together to make Douglas Unified School District an exemplary district.

DUSD is committed to providing a quality education in a safe, warm, and caring environment to our students.  We look forward to partnering with the parents to ensure the best possible education for our children.

I look forward to this school year and seeing many of you at the many activities and functions during the school year.  I am also looking forward to being involved in the Douglas community.  I am proud to say that I am the superintendent of this wonderful district!!
