PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Bulldog Family,
Yabba-Dabba-Doo! Welcome back to another dino-mite school year at Douglas High School! We're ready to Rock the Basics: Lead, Teach, Learn and stomp into the new school year like true Bedrock champions!
As we gear up for this new year, think of us as building a strong foundation—stone by stone—for academic success, personal growth, and lifelong learning. Just like the solid bedrock beneath our feet, our commitment to student achievement is unshakable. We’re laying the groundwork for greatness, and every member of our Bulldog community has a part in shaping it.
Our staff are champions for students, dedicated to creating meaningful connections, fostering positive relationships, and empowering every learner to reach their potential. As Rita Pierson once said, “Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” At DHS, that’s not just a quote—it’s a mindset.
We hold high expectations for our students, and we know they’re capable of great things. This year, students are encouraged to:
Set meaningful goals and hold themselves accountable
Stay committed to academic excellence
Be active participants in school life—clubs, sports, events, and beyond
Maintain strong attendance habits and show up ready to learn
At Douglas High School, we believe students are more than just learners—they’re future leaders. That’s why our mission and vision guide everything we do.
Here at DHS, we believe in a vision that rocks:
Douglas High School maximizes opportunities in a goal-centered and collaborative environment that cultivates and empowers lifelong learners and leaders.
Let’s rock this school year like never before!
Let’s start this school year with energy, purpose, and the determination to build something amazing—together. Whether you're leading, teaching, or learning, remember: success starts with mastering the basics.
We’re ready to rock—are you?
With excitement and Bulldog pride,
Melissa Rodriguez
