As a reminder, we will have our Joe Carlson 21st Century Summer School Showcase at 12 p.m. and will take place in our cafeteria. Please use the cafeteria entrance if you plan to attend our showcase and see the wonderful happenings of our program. In addition, we will not be dismissing students through the playground, but will be dismissed today through the cafeteria exit located on the south side of the school. Please don’t hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions.

Due to migrating bees currently nesting in a tree near our playground. Out of an abundance of caution for everyone's safety, our students attending 21st Century Summer School at Joe Carlson will not be using the usual playground pickup area today.
Instead, please proceed to the cafeteria at 12 p.m. for pickup, similar to our standard rainy day pickup route. Staff will be on hand to direct traffic and ensure a safe, smooth dismissal.
Thank you for your quick flexibility and cooperation!

5th-grade families, join us for the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony on Tuesday, May 19th, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the MPR. REMINDERS: **Students are still required to attend school from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm to participate in the ceremony.** Students may come to school dressed in semi-formal attire. The evening celebration, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, is for 5th-grade students and 2 guests only. Two tickets will be provided to each student. Thank you, parents, for your constant support!

As we reach the end of the school year, I would like to take the opportunity to revisit the uniform expectations. Even though we only have a few weeks of school left, the students are still required to come in full uniform. It would be fair to say that, in the last two weeks, we have had several students who have NOT been coming in uniform.
Some have different interpretations of what is and is not an acceptable uniform, and we believe it is time to clarify our expectations for students and parents. The parent and student handbook explains the uniform policy and is available on the DUSD #27 website for further reference, but please see the additional guidance below:
Al llegar al final del año escolar, me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para repasar las expectativas relativas al uniforme. Aunque solo nos quedan unas pocas semanas de clases, se sigue exigiendo a los estudiantes que asistan con el uniforme completo. Cabe señalar que, en las últimas dos semanas, hemos tenido varios estudiantes que NO han estado asistiendo con el uniforme puesto.
